• Botanist vessels of the late 19th century inspired master glass designer Alison Berger in this collection of timeless silhouettes, each crafted from a monumental block of K9 crystal. An exploration of materiality and scale, the shades are cast in custom molds and carefully cooled for up to 25 days, lathe carved, then hand polished. The raw matter is transformed into physical objects that transmit light, imparting a still-life presence while evoking the instruments of the scientist.

• Each substantial, 1½"-thick glass shade is carved from a weighty block of custom-cast K9 glass crystal that takes up to 25 days to make; the temperature of the molten glass as it cools is precisely measured and monitored to prevent hairline fractures or cracking
• The glass is then shaped by hand and lathe-turned at high speeds in a multi-day process; cutting speed and temperature are carefully monitored to maintain the integrity of the glass
• The crystal form is finished with wet-stone grinding and polished by hand over several days
